In the circuit court

Judge Johnson excused the petite jurors from further attendance in the circuit court this week, the jurors being instructed to return next Monday morning at 9 o'clock.

The trial of the suit of E.W. Clark vs. Geo. Bunker closed Thursday afternoon when the trial jury returned a verdict in favor of the plaintiff for $12 and costs. The plaintiff was represented by Attorney A.J. King.

The suit of D.A. Beck vs. R.T. Sims of Stotesbury was called and occupied the remainder of the afternoon and portion of Friday morning. Mr. Beck, it seems, purchased a note for $85, given by Sims to an insurance agent named Horton. Sims alleged the insurance policy he received was not as represented by Horton and refused to pay the note and Mr. Beck brought suit.

McFarland injured in cornpicker accident

Tom McFarland, 53, farmer of the Moundville area, was brought to the Nevada Hospital yesterday afternoon for surgery following an accident in which his bands became caught in a cornpicker.

McFarland was working alone in the corn field at his home about one and one-half miles south of Moundville, when the accident took place. In spite of severe injuries to his hands he was able to drive the tractor to the house and was brought to the Nevada Hospital by Mrs. McFarland.

Four fingers on his left hand were mangled and all fingers on his right hand were lost. Only the thumb on each hand remains.
