Elva Denning Heck, 92, former long-time county clerk of Vernon County, died Nov. 3, 2006, at the Moniteau Care Center in California, Mo.

Mrs. Heck moved from Nevada to California in 1961 after marrying Richard Heck, owner of the historic Heck Saddlery in California. Mr. Heck preceded her in death in 1987.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Marilyn Heck Jensen of Omaha, Neb.; a foster daughter, Sharon McCaffree Shallenberger of Portland, Ore.; a cousin, Ruth Murray of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 8, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the Weber Funeral Home in California. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m., with the Rev. Linda Pagel officiating at Weber Funeral Chapel, California, with interment following in the California Masonic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to Callaway Hills Animal Shelter 2714 State Rd TT, Holts Summit, Mo., 65043 are suggested.
