Edith Marie Barclay, 84, Nevada, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born Nov. 13, 1921, in Nevada, to Fred Nathaniel Edson and Lula Franz Edson. She was married in September 1947 in Kansas City, Mo., to John Etiopia and he died in January 1997. She then married Herbert Barclay, March 17, 2000, in Nevada, and he survives of the home.

Mrs. Barclay grow up in Nevada, and attended Nevada schools. She was a homemaker and lived most of her adult life in the Kansas City, area. She was a member of the Unity Church in Kansas City, Mo. She returned to Nevada in 2000 and lived the remainder of her life here.

In addition to her husband, Herbert, survivors include four daughters, Bonnie Batarse-Hammond, Lee's Summit, Mo., Rose Singleton, Kingsville, Mo., Patricia Carr, Grain Valley, Mo. and Mary West, Blue Springs, Mo.; three stepchildren, Jens Barclay, Nevada, Karen Reitz, Round Rock, Texas and Janet Campbell, Springfield, Mo.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Fred Edson, Muskogee, Okla; two sisters, Evelyn Bowers, Pleasant Hill, Mo., and Marjorie Leslie, Wheatland, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter., Connie Phillips; and one grandson, Lee Phillips.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, at Park Lawn Funeral Home in Kansas City, Mo., with the Rev. Johannes Braun officiating. Interment will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Kansas City.

Friends may call now and until 8, tonight at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends at Ferry Funeral Home Friday evening between 7-8 p.m.

The family will receive friends, at Park Lawn Funeral Home, Kansas City, Mo., Saturday afternoon, prior to the funeral service, between 2-3 p.m.

The family suggests that memonals may be made to the American Heart Association in care of Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
