Mary Ellen Johnson, 94, Nevada, Mo., formerly of Hume, Mo., passed away on Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada. She was born Aug. 3, 1912, near Stotesbury, Mo., to Oscar E. Wagner and Maude M. Hair Wagner. She married Kenneth E. Johnson on Dec. 1, 1954, in Fort Scott, Kan. He preceded her in death in September 1997.
Mary graduated from Stotesbury High School in 1931, and was a lifelong resident of Stotesbury. She was a member of the Stotesbury Methodist Church. Mary was a homemaker, liked to cook, do crafts and crochet. She was a former postmaster at Stotesbury.
Mary was the last of her family preceded in death by her father, mother, and three sisters, Daisy Thompson, Mabel Harrah and Ella Mae Phillips. Surviving are nieces and nephews; one stepdaughter; numerous stepgrand and great-grandchildren. Jim and Avis Johnson were her special caretakers.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 10, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in West Liberty Cemetery, Stotesbury. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends noon to 1 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 10, at the funeral home.
