Irene Frances Wilson, age 97, Bronson, Kan., died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at Moran Manor in Bronson. She was born Dec. 2, 1909, to Clarence and Edna Thompson Haynes in Bronson.

She was a lifelong resident of Bronson. She was baptized in Bronson on May 30, 1926. She married John Lewis Wilson on June 19, 1937, in Iola, Kan. He preceded her in death. She began her teaching career in a one room school house. She taught for many years. She and her husband were avid rock hounds, traveling to many places in search of rocks to make jewelry. She was a member of the American Legion and the Gem and Mineral Club of Chanute.

She is survived by a niece, Arlene Grace Taylor, Pittsburgh, Penn. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Farol Edith Haynes Taylor; and a niece, Farolyn Ann Taylor Hensley.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, May 7, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 344 N. Cedar, Moran. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., Monday, at the Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott with the Rev. Dr. A. Wayne Benson, husband of niece, Arlene Taylor, Pittsburgh. Irene will be in repose from 12-5 p.m., Sunday and after 8 a.m., on Monday. Visitation from 12-1 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
