Elsie grew up in Stotesbury, and graduated from Stotesbury High School. She was a member of the Church of God Holiness, Fort Scott. Elsie worked at Gordon's Grocery and at Key Work Clothes in Fort Scott, Nellie Don in Nevada and Nevada State Hospital for more than 20 years until her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed gardening and planting flowers.
Survivors include five daughters, Mary Ann Schmidt, Hamilton, Mo., Judy Carol Headrick, Hume, Mo., Donna Sue Downing, Mound City, Kan., Linda Diane Headrick, Fort Scott, and Jeanette E. Weber, Apache Junction, Ariz.; one son, Walter Roy Headrick Jr., Richards; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins; two sisters, Lila Weyand the state of Arizona, and Ruby Martin, Independence, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Roy Headrick Sr.; one brother, Robert Wagner; and two sisters, Edna Phillips and Bonnie Laderer.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, May 12, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery, Richards. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home.
