Local golfers are lining up to participate in the Nevada Regional Medical Center Caring with Pride Golf Classic starting Friday, May 18. This is the fourth year for the tournament and it truly is turning into a local classic. Last year 102 golfers in 34 teams competed.

The tournament is sponsored by Aquila, Missouri Eagle and KNEM/KNMO.

Proceeds from this year's event will be used to purchase an automated blood culture system for the NRMC Laboratory Department.

"Everyone always has a good time," Kim Cook, NRMC Foundation director said. "There's a lot to do and we encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the tournament."

Entry fee is $100 per person or $300 per team. Golfers will have the opportunity to win great prizes, including a chance to drive away in a new car. The hole-in-one prize is a 2007 Ford Mustang sponsored by Nevada Auto Mall. Two years ago, Ted Davis, Nevada R-5 superintendent at the time, excited spectators and participants alike when he drove to within two inches of the hole to narrowly miss winning that year's prize for a hole-in-one.

In addition to a day of golf, there will be a silent auction. Items include sports memorabilia, tickets to sporting events, rounds of golf at area resorts, gift certificates and much more. Golfers can also compete in contests such as a skins game, longest putt and closest to the pin.

Entry forms are available at Frank E. Peters Municipal Golf Course, the Chamber of Commerce, the Country Club and at KNEM/KNMO.
