Robert Andrew Elder

Robert Andrew Elder, 81, St. James, Mo., formerly of Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at the St. James Veterans' Home in St. James. He was born Sept. 17, 1925, in Nevada, to James Calvin Elder and Sarah Bays Elder.

Mr. Elder grew up in Nevada. He served in the Merchant Marines for 50 years and returned to Nevada. He has resided in St. James, the past three years. Mr. Elder enjoyed telling seafaring stories and dabbling in real estate.

Survivors include one brother, James Elder, Barstow, Calif.; two nieces, Jewel Harlan, St. James, and Judy Jones of Virginia. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jewel Veach.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, June 13, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, with the Rev. Greg Ferree officiating. Friends may call now and until 12:30 p.m., Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
