Betty Ruth Lowry, 74, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2007, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, Mo., following a brief illness. She was born Dec. 17, 1932, in Cedar County, Mo., to Thomas Jefferson Day and Edna Ryan Day. She married James Monroe Lowry on March 8, 1993, in Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death in December 2006.

Betty was born and reared in El Dorado Springs, Mo., and graduated from El Dorado Springs High School. Following school, she served in the U.S. Army and attended college for a time. She made her living as an accountant.

Survivors include one brother, Jim Day, Nevada; one sister, Barbara Conner, Henderson, Nev.; one sister-in-law, Katrina Day, Nevada; one stepson, Raymond Lowry, Richmond, Va., and several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., on Tuesday, June 26, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will be in Clintonville Cemetery, El Dorado Springs. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home.
