Web site now offers consumers a way to verify they're on the No Call list

Thursday, August 9, 2007

Missourians who want to verify that their home telephone numbers are on Attorney General Jay Nixon's No Call list can now go online to find out for sure. Nixon has added a new feature to his Web site that enables consumers to ensure their numbers are registered on the list, which now includes more than 2.5 million residential numbers.

To verify No Call registration, Missourians can go to ago.mo.gov and click on the No Call logo. From there, they can click on a link to a page where they can enter their home phone number for verification. The search engine tells them if the number is found and what date the number was registered on the No Call list. Nixon said the No Call verification can be especially helpful if someone has moved or otherwise changed numbers since when the law took effect in July 2001.

Those not yet registered on the No Call list can do so at no cost, either online or by phone. Online registrations can be made at ago.mo.gov; registrations over the phone may be made by calling (866) 662-2551). Complaints about telemarketing calls also can be made online through the Web site or by phone through that phone number.
