Ross Benjamin Garton, age 23, of Nevada, died suddenly on Monday, Sept. 10, 2007. He was born April 16, 1984, in Nevada Mo., to Larry Eldon Garton and Martha Louise Belcher Garton.

Ross was born and reared in Nevada, Mo. He graduated from Nevada High School with honors in 2003 where he was a member of the National Honor's Society, the track and field, football, and speech and debate teams. He spent three years at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada. He was currently employed by Long and Sneed Sewer Services in Nevada, Mo.

Survivors include his parents, Larry and Martha "March" Garton, of Nevada; one sister Megan Garton, of New Orleans, La.; maternal grandparents, Carl and Louise Belcher, of Nevada,: special family, Dayton and Marlyn Long, Kenneth and Marla Kay Sneed and their son Brett, all of Nevada; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eldon and Rosalee Garton.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada, with Dennis Painter officiating.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday between 7 and 8 p.m.

The family suggests that memorials may be made in his honor to the Ross Garton Scholarship Fund at Nevada High School, courtesy of the funeral home.
