Calvin Clifford Emery

Calvin Clifford Emery, 83, Nevada, passed away on Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 27, 1924, in Nevada, MO, to Kinnie A. Emery and Leona Struebee Emery.

He married Mildred June Kircher on May 15, 1948, in Nevada, and she preceded him in death in January 2001. Calvin married Ruby Homer on May 25, 2003, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

Calvin was born and raised in Nevada and spent most all of his life here. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the Philippines and Japan. He served in the National Guard in Nevada for 32 years as a supply technician and retired as a warrant officer.

Calvin was a member of the Church of Christ, Nevada. He enjoyed traveling, outdoor activities, was an avid bee keeper, and enjoyed model railroading and airplanes.

Survivors in addition to his wife Ruby include one son, Lynn Emery, Moundville; one daughter, Marganne Streight, Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Melba Keppen, Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, Dec. 28, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Larry Plush officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service. The family receives friends 7-8 p.m., Thursday evening, Dec. 27, at the funeral home.
