Flying Tigers earn second place in drill competition

Tigers JROTC drill team demonstrate their skills on the floor of Wynn Gymnasium Saturday, during a regional drill meet. Many area schools brought teams from as far away as Kansas City and Topeka. Nevada took second overall with a win in the exhibition with weapons and a second in exhibition without weapons. Topeka's Highland Park High School took first overall with a win in the exhibition without weapons and a second in exhibition with weapons. Judges for the competition came from all over the area, some were from Whiteman AFB, some were Army recruiters from Joplin and there was even a Navy recruiter on hand to judge entrants.
