Robert Allen Chastain, 72, of Bronaugh, passed away suddenly on Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. He was born on July 8, 1935, in Inglewood, Calif., to James Hugh and Zelpha Chastain. He married Velma Louise Faust, on May 12, 1956, in Long Beach, Calif., and she survives of the home.

Robert grew up in the South Bay, Calif., area. He graduated from Leuzing High School, in Longdale, Calif., in 1953. Following high school he worked for Douglas Aircraft for eight and a half years, in Torrence, Calif. He later worked at Rachelle Labs for 20 years in the pharmaceutical industry as a pharmaceutical engineer. Robert then went to Beckman Instruments for 15 years until his retirement in 1999, at which time they came to Bronaugh. He attended the Bronaugh Methodist Church.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Velma, include; three children, Randy Chastain and his wife Sonny, of El Dorado Springs, Vickie Kiley and her husband Daniel, of Hawthorne, Calif., and David Chastain, of Waller, Texas; seven grandchildren, Robert Chastain, Christopher Kiley, Aubrey Kiley, Aarika Kiley, Kaitlin Kiley, Michael Kiley and Adrian Chastain; twin brothers Ron Chastain, of Cathedral City, Calif., and Don Chastain, of the state of Tennessee; and three sisters, Elsie Hodge, Lois Docherman, and Donnale Chastain, all of the state of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, James Chastain.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. John Swatosh officiating. Cremation will follow.
