Steven Leslie Smith, 53, of Nevada, passed away on Wedneday, Feb. 20, 2008, at his home in Nevada, following a lenghthy illness. He was born on July 25, 1954, in Nevada, to Cecil Lee Smith and Flossie Juanita Snead Smith. He married Pamela June Rayburn, on Jan. 24, 1976, and she survives of the home.
Steve greew up in Vernon County and attended Bronaugh Schools. He worked at 3M in Nevada for 23 years until his retirement due to poor health. He also raised cattle for many years.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Pam, include; three children, Christine Smith, of Nevada, Scott Smith, of Farmington, Iowa, and Heather O'Dell, of Nevada; three grandsons, Logan Smith, Colton Lambott and Cameron Smith, and brothers, Dennis Smith and his wife Debbie, of Kirksville, Mo., Richard Smith and his wife Cindy, of Milo, and David Smith and his wife Sharon, of Girard, Kan. He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, Feb. 25, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with John Nichols officating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, in Nevada. Friends may call from 1 p.m., on Friday and until the hour of service on Monday.
