Ertis E. Brown, age 99, formerly of Vernon County, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Appleton City Manor, in Appleton City, Mo. She was born on Dec. 14, 1908, in Vernon County to Guy and Sallie Ann Thompson Kiger. On Aug. 3, 1925, she was married in Stockton, Mo., to Everett Vandenburg and he preceded her in death in 1953, to this union four children were born. She later married Eddie Brown in 1957 and he preceded her in death in 1954.

Ertis spent her entire life in Vernon County until moving to Appleton City 12 years ago.

Survivors include one son ,George Vandenburg, and his wife Wilma, of Richards; one daughter, Loretta Price, of Schell City; eight grandchildren, Linda Schlueter and her husband Warren, of Hume, David Vandenburg and his wife Lauri, of Richards, Wilbur Price and his wife Lisa, of Schell City, Malinda Ast and her husband Daryl, of Nevada, Mildred Salsbury and her husband Dick, of Harwood, Rita Jacks and her husband Greg, of Richards, Vicky Bouchard and husband Mike, of Washington D.C., and Mike Vandenburg and his wife Cindy, of Richards; 23 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren and one nephew, Lonnie Kiger. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Edna Vandenburg; a son Leonard Vandenburg and two brothers Raymond Kiger and Esry Kiger.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with pastor Howard McPeak officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada.
