Judy Lee Batchelor, 59, of Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, in Joplin, following a lengthy illness. She was born July 11, 1948, in Fort Scott, to Earnest Eldon Goddard and Loretta Verniece Thomas Goddard.

Judy was a lifelong resident of Vernon County. She was a member of the last graduating class from Richards High School, in 1966. Judy worked for H&R Block, in Fort Scott, for 21 years until her retirement earlier this year. She served on the board of On My Own, in Nevada, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post No. 1165, in Fort Scott.

Survivors include: One daughter, Amanda Willis, of Nevada; three grandchildren, Richard Willis, LaTasha Willis and Dalton Willis, all of Nevada; one step-grandchild, Tiffany Willis, of Nevada; one sister Bonnie Willoughby, of Joplin, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sandra Thomas, and one daughter, Jennifer Batchelor-Lewis.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, May 23, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Richland Cemetery, in Richards. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., today at the funeral home.
