Dorothy Joan Buckner

Dorothy Joan Buckner, 72, of Nevada, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born on Aug. 19, 1935, in Richards, Mo., to George William Buckner and Addie Mae Ellifrits Buckner.

Dorothy grew up in Vernon County and spent most of her life here. She worked for a number of years at Quality Products in Nevada and Lamar. Dorothy was a Baptist. She loved being outdoors and playing bingo.

Survivors include: Four brothers, Evertt Buckner and his wife Mary Jane, Nevada, Raymond Buckner and his wife Mary, of Sheldon, Fred Buckner, of Nevada, and Stanley Buckner and his wife Linda, of Lawrence, Kan.; two sisters, Erma Allen, of Rockville, Mo., Betty Buckner and her friend Russell Wyrick, of Nevada, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A gaveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at Moore Cemetery in Nevada with the Rev. Terry Mosher officiating. Friends may call now and until 2:30 p.m., Saturday at Ferry Funeral Home and the family receives friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the family in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
