Double trouble: Second half of mammoth tree falls

Friday, June 6, 2008
Lynn A. Wade/Daily Mail-- Dwarfed in contrast to the enormous tree that fell at the Adams' home on Cherry St., friends and family help cut the huge trunk into manageable pieces.

The Adamses had a mess to cleanup on Wednesday, when half of a giant tree crashed across a neighbor's back yard, extending nearly the length of the neighbor's lot.

But on Thursday, Mother Nature let them know she wasn't finished yet. The other half of the tree didn't stand up to Thursday's high winds and crashed in the opposite direction -- squarely across the soft-side pool erected just last weekend.

"The kids have been in it once," Kelley Adams said of the pool, which was lay buried, nearly completely obscured from sight, under the branches on Thursday evening.

Help had arrived, and friends and family were making quick work of the big job.

More thunderstorms were forecast overnight, with still more possible this weekend.
