Donald Walter Dennison, age 78, formerly of Nevada, died on July 5, 2008, at the Indian Meadows Healthcare Center, in Overland Park, Kan., following a lengthy illness. He was born on Oct. 31, 1929, in Butler, Mo., to Homer William Dennison and Mamie Cecil Pauley Dennison. Donald was a graduate of Nevada High School in 1947. He served in the United States Army from 1948 to 1951. Donald lived and worked in Carthage as a podiatrist for 25 years. Following his retirement he returned to Nevada where he lived for 15 years. He has been in Overland Park, Kan., for the past year and a half. Don was also a lifetime member of the American Legion, in Carthage, Mo.
Don is survived by three children: sons Greg Dennison and Tim Dennison, both of Carthage, Mo., and a daughter Christina Lott, of Wichita, Kan.; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three sisters, Doris Moberg, of Overland Park, Kan., Dorothy Wehrly and her husband Manfred, of Lenexa, Kan., Judy Austin and her husband L.J., of Nevada; two brothers, Jack Dennison, of Nevada, and Jim Dennison and his wife Vicki, of Nevada, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Darrell.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at the Cave Spring Cemetery, in Sarcoxie, Mo. Friends may call now and until noon today at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., today, at Ferry Funeral Home.
