Matthew Edgar Leer, 26, of Nevada, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 18, 1981, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Alfred Henry Leer and Denise Lynn Waddle Leer. He married Terah Lynn McKnight on May 7, 2007, in Miami, Okla., and she survives of the home.
Matthew grew up in Nevada. He attended school in Nevada and Neosho. Matthew was currently employed as a roofer working for Toby Gicante, in Nevada.
Survivors in addition to his wife Terah include: One step-daughter, Addison Hallam, of Nevada; his father, Alfred Henry Leer, of Goodman, Mo.; two brothers Alfred Leer Jr., of Hannibal, Mo., and Joshua Lynch, Webb City, Mo.; his grandparents, Frieda Leer, of Nevada, and James and Edna Parker, Neosho, Mo.; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; mother-in-law, Karen Oberly, of Nevada, and brother-in-law, Darrel Claspill, of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his mother, Denise Lynn Leer, in 1987.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Ferry Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 7 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
