Kay Moss Hamblin, 74, Nevada, died July 27, 2008, at the Barone Alzheimer Care Center, in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 28, 1933, to Carson and Kathryn Moss. Kay married William R. Hamblin Jr. on June 28, 1952, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 1986.
Kay graduated from Nevada High School in May of 1951. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, P.E.O, Dianas, and Legal Secretaries Association. She worked for the prosecuting attorney's office and as the Circuit Judge Secretary for many years. She retired in December of 2001. Kay's enthusiasm for life was contagious. There was never a project that was too difficult for Kay to conquer. She spent her life caring for family and friends and using her sense of humor to entertain and comfort others. One of her favorite gifts to others was a personalized handmade Christmas stocking.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at Barone Care Center, Dr. Thompson, and all who came to visit Kay during the past four years.
Survivors include, one daughter Ellen Hamblin, Marietta, GA; one son, Bill Hamblin and his wife Shari, Overland Park, Kan.; four grandchildren Jonah Merrell, Amy Green, Chris and Matt Hamblin; one brother, Carson Lee Moss Jr., Santa Fe, N.M.; one sister-in-law, Carol Moss, Oakland, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her brother Mason Moss.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 31, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Greg Ferree officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, in Nevada.
Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday morning between 10 and 11 a.m., prior to the service.
The family suggests memorials may be made in her honor to the Dianas Scholarship Fund in care of Ferry Funeral Home 301 S Washington Nevada, MO 64772.
