Dale Henry Nichols

Dale Henry Nichols was born to minister George and Suzanna Smith Nichols on Feb. 4, 1933, at Isabella, Okla. He passed away peacefully on Aug. 2, 2008, having reached the age of 75 years.

Dale grew up in the Fairview, Okla., area and received his education there. At the age of 13 he gave his heart to the Lord and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite by his father.

At the age of 19 he went to Mexico to teach school. There he met Marlene Toews. They were united in marriage on June 7, 1953. They shared 55 beautiful years together. To this union were born 10 children.

Their mission years in Mexico were a highlight in his life. In 1965 they moved to Inman, Kan. In 1968 the Lord opened the door for them to move to Schell City, Mo., where they lived 28 years. After selling the farm in 1995, they moved to Willcox, Ariz., where Dale resided until his death.

Left behind to cherish his memory are, his loving wife Marlene, their children, Richard and Betty, Faunsdale, Ala.; Carol and Don Dirks, Walker, Mo.; George and Marcia, Farwell, Texas; Clyde and Marilyn, Hiawatha, Kan.; Margaret and Ward Unruh, Garden View, Kan.; Dalen and Sheri, Willcox; Annette and Bryson Holdeman, Victoria, Texas; Danny and Alicia, Garden View, Kan.; Carlos and Lynette, DeRidder, La.; 32 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and long time family friend Anthony Fagan, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Dale Henry Nichols will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Aug. 8, at the Living Faith Mennonite Church, in Walker, Mo. Interment will follow in the Living Faith Mennonite Cemetery, in Walker. Friends may call all day Thursday at the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home, in Schell City.
