Wood -- 50 years
The Rev. Kenneth and Jennie Wood, rural Fort Scott, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Saturday, Aug. 16, 2008, at the Franklin, Kan., NEW Community Center, at an event hosted by their four children and 11 grandchildren.
Kenneth and Jennie were happily surprised by 130 family and friends, who came from Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas.
Guests were served appetizers, dinner, wedding cake and punch. A musical program and PowerPoint presentation followed, honoring the Woods' 50 wedded years.
Kenneth and Jennie were married Aug. 15, 1958, in Los Angeles, Calif., at the Los Angeles First Church of the Nazarene. They served six churches during 44 years of ministry -- two in Missouri, two in Minnesota, and two in Kansas. Their children are Suella and Dr. Charles Hornby, Monett, Mo.; Stan and Denise Wood, Shawnee, Kan.; Melody and Lonnie Richardson, Overland Park, Kan.; and Joy and Phil Parke, Raymore, Mo.
