Chelsea Lynn To, (pronounced toe) 19, Nevada, died on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, in an automobile accident. She was traveling with Kelly Lee Masters, the love of her life, to visit family and friends in Iowa for the Christmas holiday. She was born Dec. 24, 1988, in Hampton, Iowa, to Thang N. To and Ramona K. Wolff To.
Chelsea grew up in Forest City, Iowa, and graduated from Forest City High School in 2006. She attended Luther College, in Decorah, Iowa. Following graduation, she was a foreign exchange student in Germany in 2006. She has lived in Nevada for the past 1 1/2 years. She attended the St. Paul Lutheran Church. Chelsea was currently a student at Crowder College and employed at Fastrip in Nevada. She enjoyed participating in bowling, volleyball, dance team, and band and chorus in high school. Chelsea was a very caring, loving and positive young lady whom volunteered at the Moss House. She was planning a career in social work to help troubled youth.
Survivors include her parents, Ramona and Alex Reiter, Nevada, and Larry Shunkwiler, Forest City, Iowa; three brothers, Nathan To, Nevada, Dalton Shunkwiler and Caedyn Reiter, both of the home; one sister, Megan Shunkwiler, of the home, and grandparents, Larry and Beverly Wolff, St. Ansgar, Iowa, and Dean Shunkwiler, Mason City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by two grandmothers, Judy Wolff and Dixie Shunkwiler.
Joint funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Monday, Dec. 29, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Pastor Kim Osborn officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and a joint visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., on Sunday, at the funeral home.
