Marcia E. Guthrie - Michael D. Townsend

Mark and Janet Guthrie, of Nevada, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Marcia Ellen, to Michael David Townsend, son of Gary and Yvonne Townsend, Leawood, Kan.

Marci is a 2001 graduate of Nevada High School. She attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2004. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Marci is currently employed by Commerce Investment Advisors in Kansas City.

Michael is a 1997 graduate of Blue Valley North High School. He received his bachelor's degree from Kansas State University in 2001 and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Law in 2005. Michael currently practices as a civil defense attorney with the law firm of Brown & James, P.C.

The couple are planning a May 16, 2009, wedding at First Baptist Church in Nevada.
