* Entry deadline extended; works are still being accepted for special show in El Dorado Springs.

The Springs Gallery in El Dorado Springs has rescheduled the first Regional Arts Exhibition. The event, hosted in conjunction with the Springfield Regional Arts Council, was originally slated to begin on May 1 and run through June 11, but "due to short notice, submissions were slow to come in and we've had to extend the submission deadline," said Ruth Cannady of The Springs Gallery. The call for submissions ends May 14 and all artwork must be delivered to the gallery before 5 p.m. of that day. There will be an open reception to kick off the exhibition on Saturday, May 16, beginning at 1 p.m. and lasting until 4 p.m. The regional exhibition will be open to the public May 18-29, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Springs Gallery in El Dorado Springs and will feature the work of artists from Bates, Cedar, Henry, Hickory, Polk, St. Clair and Vernon counties.

Of the pieces on display, 20 will be chosen by jury selection to be exhibited at the Cremary Arts Center in Springfield June 1-29 during the Northwest Quadrant Exhibition featuring the work of artists from the 27 counties served by the Springfield Regional Arts Council. Artists from the seven county area are encouraged to participate in the event by submitting as many as five pieces of work. No more than two works by any artist will be chosen to move on to the show in Springfield. To submit a piece of art for this exhibition, you may register, obtain eligibility requirements, exhibition rules and other information by visiting The Springs Gallery Web site at www.thespringsartgallery.org, or you can contact Ruth Cannady at 417-296-3659 or by e-mail at ruthcannady@thespringsartgallery.org.
