Norton -- 65 years

Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe A. Norton Jr., of Appomattox, Va., celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary May 28, 2009, with their families in attendance.

The couple has two children, Rosemary Metts of Batesburg, S.C., and Taunya Norton of Appomattox, Va.; four grandchildren, Gabriel Metts and Morgan Metts of Batesburg, S.C., Amanda Guerrero married to Juan Guerrero, of Statesville, N.C., and Alex Starke of Appomattox, Va.; and one great-grandson, Josiah Straws of Batesburg, S.C.

The couple were married in Fort Scott on May 28, 1944, by the Minister Rev. Walter H. Johnson. After Roscoe's service in World War II, they were beckoned by industry to many wonderful places and friends throughout the southeastern states. Mrs. Norton is the former B. Marie Hildreth of Fort Scott.
