Wallace Arrington Fairfield Jr.

Wallace Arrington Fairfield Jr., 68, passed away on July 16, 2009, in Kansas City, Mo. He retired as a counselor from Nevada Habilitation Center in Nevada, and had taught in the York County and Newport News School Systems. Wallace received a doctorate from Montana State University and a Masters from University of Tennessee. He also served in the Marines and the Marine Reserve.

Wallace is preceded in death by his mother and father, Wallace and Beatrice Fairfield, of Yorktown. He is survived by two sons, David W. Fairfield, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Benjamin Fairfield; one daughter Megan Fairfield, of the state of Missouri. He is also survived by one granddaughter, Ashley Fairfield, of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Thomas Fairfield and wife Janice, of Ocean Springs, Miss., Randolph Fairfield and wife Kate, of Forest, Va.; one sister, Denise Hargraves and husband Rae, of Somerset, Va; five nieces and one nephew.

There was a visitation for family and friends at Amory Funeral Home in Grafton, Va., on Tuesday, July 21, from 7-8 p.m., and a graveside service was held on July 22, at 11 a.m., at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News, Va., with the Rev. Kay Gentry officiating.
