James Thomas "J.T." Jeans, 74, passed away from this life Tuesday, Aug.11, 2009 at Fort Scott Presbyterian Village, Fort Scott, Kan.
He was born Aug. 24, 1934, in Orlando, Okla., to Thomas Leslie Jeans and Dora Finnel Jeans.
J. T. was the third of five children and grew up on the family farm. He attended high school in Billings, Okla., and college at Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Okla. He moved to Vernon County, Mo., with his family in 1952 and farmed with his father. In 1956 he married Anna Brock in Nevada. They farmed near Richards, Mo. for over 50 years. J.T. enjoyed life. His machine shed was always open to any neighbor who needed a place to work on tractors, cars, trucks etc. The Deerfield Fire Department, in it's beginning, used it often. Many happy times were had there. J. T. was a good honest Christian man.
J. T. leaves behind his wife, Anna, of the home; two daughters, Lou Ann Kissock and her husband Brian, Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, and Pamela Jeans, Columbia, Mo.; one son Wayne Jeans and his wife Pauline, Richards; five grandchildren, Jenna Kissock, and Jason Kissock, both of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, Chase Jeans, Zachery Jeans and Chelsey Jeans, all of Richards; two brothers, Delbert Jeans and his wife Gladys, Thayer, Kan., and Joe Jeans, Richards; one sister, Donna Fisher and her husband Don, Kearney, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lawrence Jeans.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 14, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield.
Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, between 7 and 8 p.m.
