Robert L. "Bob" Wilson, 74, Croweburg, Kan., formerly of Nevada, passed away on Aug. 17, 2009, at Mt. Carmel Hospital, Pittsburg, Kan., after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Foxtown, Kan., to John W. Wilson and Anna C. Goodman Wilson. He married his wife of 55 years, Mary Burnick on Feb. 22, 1954, and she survives of the home.

Bob graduated from Arma High School in 1952 and later graduated from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg. He lived most of his adult life in Nevada where he owned Nevada Insurance Agency until 1983 and later worked for 3M Company as a purchasing agent. Bob also served as a Prudential Insurance agent. He was active in cattle operation with his son. Bob was a Little League coach and played softball in his early years for Farm and Home and Davison's. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Nevada Country Club in Nevada and Crestwood Country Club in Pittsburg. He was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 564, and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nevada.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Mary, include two daughters, Shirley Rainey and her husband Bill, Nevada, and Pam Warbinton and her husband Doug, Webb City, Mo.; one son, Robert M. Wilson and his wife Gail, Nevada; his sisters, Patricia Billiard and her husband B.J. and Marilyn Cowan and her husband Maurice, both of Mulberry, Kan.; grandchildren, Marissa, Taylor, and Luke Rainey, Vince and Tanner Warbinton, and Ben and Amanda Wilson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nevada, Friday, Aug. 21, with the Rev. Justin Hoye officiating. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Pittsburg, with the Rev. Lawrence Carney officiating.

Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday between 7 and 8:30 p.m.
