He was born on Nov. 27, 1955, in Kansas City, Mo., to John W. Richards and Neola Weis-Richards.
Marvin grew up in Kansas City, Kan., and Nevada, and graduated from Nevada High School in 1973. He served in the United States Air Force from 1973-1977 and was stationed in Jacksonville, Ark.
Survivors include one son, Marvin DeWayne Richards Jr., of the state of Tennessee, one daughter, Shawna Anne Brewer, of the state of Arkansas; four grandchildren; three brothers, Ken Weis, of Sheridan, Ark., John Richard, of Wichita, Kan., Gilbert Richards, of Watts, Okla.; two sisters, Debbie Potter and Ann Stafford, both of Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Graveside services will be Friday Sept. 4, at 1:30 p.m., at Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan.
