Gerald Dean Bogan, 68, of Hume, Mo., died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at his home. He was born May 28, 1941 at Hume, the son of Carl and Novella Boston Bogan.

Gerald was reared in the Hume and Metz area. After the eighth grade he worked for his great uncle in Leavenworth, Kan. At 19 years of age, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1960 to 1963. He was stationed in France and later in Ft. Sill, Okla. He married Sharon Kay Swink on Nov. 12, 1966. He worked for General Motors Leads plant in Kansas City, Mo., for 11 years and then entered the Boiler Makers Local 83 in Kansas City for 25 years. He was a member of the Butler Masonic Lodge No. 254. His love was farming and his family and friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his father and also an infant son, Bret Loy Bogan. Survivors include his wife, Sharon of the home; his mother, Novella Bogan Finwick of Hume; one son, Tim Bogan and Sherry of Springdale, Ark.; daughters, Meda Wisdom and Harry of Mound City, Kan.; Sherri Crand and Charles "Reb," of Hume, Missouri; one brother, Larry Bogan and Harriet of Prescott, Kan.; sisters, Joyce Cannon & Marion of Hume, and Janice Koehn and Ronnie of Adrian, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday Oct. 12, at the flume Christian Church, Hume. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Hume Missouri.
