Great Oaks to close its doors after 30 years

Opening for business in 1979, Great Oaks Country Club has gone through a lot of changes and faces during its operation. However, the recent state of the economy has forced the shareholders of the corporation to make a very tough decision and close the restaurant, Capone's, dissolve the swim and tennis club, and put the facility up for sale.

On Dec. 19 the Oklahoma Band Hammer Down will perform their energetic show of original Red Dirt and Country Rock music on the Capone's stage for the last time.

Operations will cease on Dec. 31, 2009.

This article might have some impact as news if the location of the Great Oaks Country Club was given or if there was even a line as to what town it is in.

I, for one, have never heard of either the Great Oaks Country Club or Capone's.

yea, I suppose since we know its not in Nevada that it is in Ft. Scott but why not say something???? Just because they merged their papers doesnt mean the populations have merged.

Heck, I thought it was a nursing home at first! ccmom was correct, it is in Eldorado Springs. I could almost understand if it was in Ft Scott and the paper expecting us to know because of the merge. But Eldo? That really needs to be explained. Thanks for the info though...
