Norma June Rhyne, 83, Carthage, Mo., formerly of Nevada, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at St. Luke's Nursing Center, Carthage, following a lengthy illness. She was born Sept. 11, 1926, in Jones, Okla., to Chester Arthur Keyes and Mary Blanche Finley Keyes. She married Albert Rhyne on July 3, 1945, in Springfield, Mo., and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2003.
Norma was born and reared in Jones, Okla. She lived most all of her adult life in Nevada. She was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Norma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Nevada for more than 40 years. She was a member of the Carthage Methodist Church. She was also a very active member of the United Methodist Women's Club for many years.
Survivors include one son, Russell K. Rhyne, Brownwood, Texas; one daughter, Mary Katherine Van Mater, Carthage, Mo.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Hazel Scopel, Jones, Okla. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Derek Schirer and by eight siblings.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 10-11 a.m., Saturday, prior to the service.
