Calvin E. Boyd Sr., 71, Nevada, passed away on Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, following a lengthy illness. He was born July 28, 1938, in Berryville, Ark., to Claude Avery Boyd and Lucy Mae Mitchell Boyd. He married Evelyn P. Barker on July 16, 1966, in Las Vegas, Nev., and she survives of the home.
Calvin grew up in Berryville and was raised in California. He and Evelyn lived in California for a number of years then came to Nevada in 1990 following his retirement. He loved fishing.
Survivors in addition to his wife, Evelyn of the home include: six children, Dianna Stewart, Creedmoor, N.C., Ricky Lee Ayers, Katheryn Sue Tice, Calvin E. Boyd II, Kevin Merl Boyd, and Calvin Boyd III, all of Nevada; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Ann Jones and her husband Bob, Nevada, Linda K. Dills and her husband Glen, Washington state, Minnie Masters and her husband Leroy, Donna Barker and her husband Tom, and Claudia Roby and her husband Ralph, all of Nevada; three sons-in-law, Steve Wheeler, Roy Shotts, and Steve Steward; three daughters-in-law, Linda Ayers, Nancy Boyd, and Tracy Fritsch. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon Wayne Mason, and an infant brother, Wallace Dean Boyd; two sisters, Dorothy Fae Wishman and Flora Carr, and one granddaughter, Christine Marie Boyd.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, at the funeral home.
