Edith Dirks, 85, Moundville, Mo., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at Barone Alzheimer's Care Center in Nevada following a lengthy illness. She was born May 15, 1924, in Deerfield, Mo., to Elmer Wolf and Blanch Schriebral Wolf. She married Richard C. Dirks on Nov. 8, 1943, in Richmond, Va. He preceded her in death in October 1985.
Edith was reared in Deerfield, and graduated from Nevada High School in 1943. She lived in the Moundville area where she was a farm wife and homemaker throughout her whole life. She was a member of the Moundville Methodist Church for more than 50 years. She loved to fish.
Survivors include one son, Floyd Dirks, Nevada; two daughters, Sheila Yurk and her husband Owen, Nevada, and Mary Landis and her husband Noble, Lenexa, Kan.; five grandchildren, Mitchell Landis, Darren Landis, Justin Dirks, Jeffrey Dirks, and Tonya Davis; eight great-grandchildren, Bailey, Kate, Braxton and Brock Landis, Iszach and Trinity Davis, and Blake and Julia Dirks. Edith was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Charles Dirks and Adhn Dirks; four brothers, Wayne and Willard Wolf; her twin brother, Bud Wolf; an infant brother, Hubert Wolf; two sisters, Erma Parks, and Ethel Mae Pettibon; four stepbrothers; one stepsister; two grandchildren, Caleb Yurk and Lori Landis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Jan. 21, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 1-2 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial will follow at Welborn Cemetery, in Moundville
