Letter to the Editor

School board appreciation week

Thursday, January 21, 2010

Dear Editor:

On behalf of the Nevada R-5 School District, our Community Teachers' Association and our staff, please let me take the time to recognize the members of the R-5 School Board during School Board Appreciation Week (Jan. 24-30). This week is set aside each year to appreciate and applaud the incredible efforts of these dedicated men and women on behalf of our students and our community. Throughout the year, our school board provides vital support and vision to not only our administrators but also to our faculty, staff, and students. This vision has led to great improvements throughout our district that were made through un-selfish motives to better the quality of education for all students.

Though many in our governmental system are paid or receive specific perks, board members are simply local citizens, selflessly giving of their time, knowledge, and efforts to do what's best for kids. They spend many hours preparing for board meetings, visiting buildings, talking with teachers and administrators, in addition to many other tasks while giving their time away from jobs, homes, and families. These citizen servants come from diverse backgrounds, yet come together for the common goal of bettering the Nevada R-5 School District and in turn our community as a whole.

Please take time this week to thank any school board members you might come in contact with. It is their hard work and tireless efforts that make it a great to be a Nevada Tiger!

Respectfully Submitted.Erin McCullough
