Tiffany Shaffer and Michael Pommier exchanged wedding vows on June 27, 2009, in Pittsburg, Kan., at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

The 3 p.m. marriage celebration was officiated by the Rev. Tom Stroot. The church was decorated with candles and pink flowers in the window seats and pink and green bows at the ends of the chapel pews. Décor also included two large candelabra floral arrangements with pink roses, lime green hydrangeas, and green ivy. A solo was sung by Lori Pommier, cousin of the groom, during communion. Sharon Barone served as organist and Josh Johnson as pianist for the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Dwayne Smith and Suzanne Smith, Nevada, Mo., and granddaughter of Jean Shaffer, of Nevada, Mo., Richard Shaffer, Hot Springs, Mont., and JC and the late Leona Smith, of Nevada, Mo. The groom is the son of Ron and Janet Pommier, of Franklin, Kan., and grandson of the late Louis and Kay Pommier, Arma, Kan., and Ray and the late Sophie Wagen, of Garfield Heights, Ohio.

Presented in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white strapless satin gown with cinched bust, beaded lace bodice, pick-up skirt, and peek-a-boo lace hem with chapel-length train with a matching veil. The bride also wore white satin shoes and a rhinestone headband in her hair to accent her for her special day. She wore a pearl necklace and earrings, which matched the embellishments of the dress. She carried a full bouquet of pink roses, lime green hydrangeas, and white calla lilies.

The bridal party consisted of matrons of honor Kelly Gantt, friend of the bride, and Kryssi Kitinoja, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Emily Borzillo, friend of the bride, and Kirsten Smith, sister of the bride. The bride's attendants wore full-length dresses of different styles in watermelon satin. The bridesmaids displayed matching necklaces and earrings given to them by the bride with watermelon satin shoes. They carried bouquets of pink roses, lime green hydrangeas, and pink and white calla lilies. The flower girl was Sophie Pommier, niece of the groom. The flower girl wore a white dress that matched the bride's dress style with a watermelon bow around the waist. The flower girl carried a white basket with a white pearl handle with pink and white rose petals.

The groom's best man was Chris Pommier, brother of the groom. The groomsmen were Alan Pommier, brother of groom, Kevin Pommier, brother of the groom, and Tristan Smith, brother of the bride. The groomsmen work black tuxedoes with watermelon vests and ties and a lime green boutonniere. The ringbearer was Brett Meyer, friend of the couple.

Following the ceremony there was a reception, dinner and dance. The reception was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church Parish Hall in Arma, Kan. Each table was decorated with trumpet vases floral arrangements that matched the bride's bouquet and green votive candles on top of a pink tablecloth and white runner. The head table was decorated with white tulle, bouquets of flowers, and candlelight. Guests were all given favors of cups with the couple's name and wedding date printed on them to take home and an edible treat.

A chocolate fountain bar was also displayed in the reception hall that consisted of a large variety of sweets and fruits. The cake was four tiers and round with white and chocolate layers. The cake was created with white icing, pink ribbon, and lime green roses. On top of the cake were three silver and crystal monogram initials. The groom's cake was shaped as a camera to represent his love of photography. Both cakes were made by the groom's mother.

Pre-wedding events included a bridal shower in Arma, Kan., on May 24, 2009, hosted by the groom's aunts and on May 31, 2009, in Springfield, Mo., hosted by matron of honor Kryssi Kitinoja.
