The Franklin P. Norman City-County Community Center is now officially open for business. Thursday evening Jeff Post, Nevada Parks Board president, cut the ribbon to formally open the remodeled facility. Post was joined by Robin McHugh, parks and recreation director, current parks board members Frankie Davis, Shirley Ann Bastow, Dave Christensen, Amyl Bishop, Gina Cripps, as well as, Carol Branham, former parks and recreation director and parks board president Mike Turnbull. Others present included, JD Kehrman, city manager; State Representative Barney Fisher; Harlan Moore, former interim city manager; and a host of community members. "It's an amazing facility," Post said. Inside, a number of those in attendance took advantage of the hot dogs and popcorn served in honor of the occasion, and people of all ages took a look at amenities in the facility. Many, mostly teens and children, spent a few moments in activities in the gymnasium or in a game room equipped with a pool table, foosball, and a Nintendo Wii. --Ralph Pokorny/Daily Mail
