Lola Mae Hendrix Yurk, 88, of Columbus, passed away at her home Tuesday, May 4, 2010.

Mae was born March 20, 1922, in Nevada, the daughter of James Orion and Lola Alice (Wheatley) Hendrix. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1940. Mae worked at the Nevada Hospital and ASCS Agriculture Office and retired from the Farm and Home Savings in 1979. She then moved to Columbus to be with her son, Gary and family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She enjoyed taking care of her family and church and her hobbies included home crafts and reading. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Columbus.

Mae was preceded in death by: two brothers: James L. Hendrix and Glen A. Hendix and four sisters: Gloria Racer, Joy Keeton, Iva Caldwell, and Beverly Wood.

Survivors include two sons: Sam Yurk and wife Sue of Ft. Gibson, Okla., and Gary Yurk and wife Diane of Columbus; five grandchildren, Jeff Wilson, Craig Wilson, Cathy Pack and husband Jerry, Gaisa Westervelt and husband Gary, Elizabeth Prauser and husband Luke; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, in the First Christian Church with pastor Roger Beason and pastor Jeff Wary officiating. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. Visitation will be 7-8 p.m., Thursday. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church with the church or funeral home serving as custodian.
