Nevada Regional Medical Center Auxiliary members donated $36,624 and put in more than 6,600 hours of volunteer time at NRMC the past year, receiving hearty thanks and certificates of appreciation at their annual meeting and training session held June 24 in the hospital Mezzanine.

Judy Feuquay, CEO, thanked the 70 volunteers for their gifts of time and funds supporting patient care, which financed the purchase of new booths for the cafeteria, and several items for the obstetrics department. Nursery additions included both portable and stationary fetal monitors, a hearing test machine, flexible Bili blanket and "Goodnight Moon" children's books for new mothers. A state-of-the art Braselow System containing medical items for pediatric patients in the Emergency department and "Happy Hugger" cough pillows for Ambulatory Care patients were also purchased.

Feuquay introduced Dr. David Dugger who told a little about himself and his new obstetrics practice at the hospital.

The training portion of the program was presented by Jennifer Eaton, Guest Services Coordinator, who presented updated information on NRMC policies and codes for fire, tornado, abduction assistance, disaster, and wheelchair training.

Martha Wood, Auxiliary president, greeted the volunteers at the meeting, which followed a buffet brunch. She introduced the heads of each of three volunteer work stations: Tim Boyd, information desk; Billy Rutledge, surgery waiting room; and LaMae Bryant, gift shop.

Wood praised the "wonderful group of volunteers" while commenting that more people are needed to help staff the work stations. "Please encourage those you know from church, other organizations, neighbors, and recently retired friends to consider joining us."

She added that the members continue to hear "good things" about the Auxiliary gift shop. A wide assortment of pleasing and fun gifts have been added to the redecorated shop under the direction of LaMae Bryant.

Board members were asked to report on their work starting with membership chairman Joann Arnold who said nine new members were added during the year.

Mickie Boyd gave a breakdown of volunteer hours which were 2,001 for the information desk; 1,828 for surgery waiting room; 2,242 for the gift shop, and 571 in other areas.

Treasurer Nola Hartzfeld reported the total donation of $36,624.12 to the hospital and said the organization's finances are in very good shape. Hartzfeld, who is completing four years as treasurer, was applauded for her service.

Donna Logan reported four popular fund-raisers were held during the fiscal year for books, Tupperware and jewelry. The next vendor jewelry sale will be Sept. 23, in the NRMC Mezzanine.

Nadine Killmer encouraged members to continue making turbans for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Beverly Browning presented the new slate of officers who are Martha Wood, president; Nadine Killmer, vice president; Sandie Strawn, secretary, and Sherry Sadler, treasurer.
