Landon Leroy "Lanny" Phelps, 60, Walker, Mo., passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at his sister's home in El Dorado Springs, Mo., following an illness of several months. He was born on July 10, 1950, in Nevada, to William Earl Phelps and Marguerite Milligan Phelps.
Lanny was a lifelong resident of Vernon County. He graduated from Walker High School in 1968. Lanny worked as a mechanic for Guthrie Motors for 26 years until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of the Nevada Eagles Aerie Lodge No. 3770.
Survivors include his mother, Marguerite Phelps, Bolivar, Mo.; two sisters, Letha Geer and her husband, Larry, Granby, Mo., and Tena Lydon and her husband, Tim, El Dorado Springs; one brother, Larry Phelps and his wife, Ruth, Bath, Ill.; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, and sister, Myra Garrett.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 21, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Milo, Mo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
