Dorothy "Dot" Carole Warren, 87, Nevada, passed away on Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at her home in Nevada following an illness of several weeks. She was born June 8, 1923, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., to Ewing Hogan Kirby and Alice Owens Kirby.

Dorothy was born in Mammoth Springs, Ark., and grew up there and in Nevada, Mo. In her early years, she ran Dot's Tavern and The Subway and many others. She worked for many years as a developmental assistant at the Nevada State Hospital. She loved to fish, play penny poker, and loved her cigarettes, coffee and friends. Dorothy was always well dressed and an outspoken individual. She was very proud of all of her grandchildren, but she thought the world of granddaughter Melissa Shepard and grandson Tristen Shepard both of Nevada. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include three sons, Jack Farmer, Nevada, Mo., Don Simler, Hermitage, Mo., and Robert Warren, Blue Springs, Mo.; two daughters, Shelia Hand, Nevada, and Judy Baker, Oak Grove, Mo.; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky Noel and Larry Farmer, and one daughter, Jeannie Snowden.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 23, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Ray Dean Scism officiating. Interment will follow.
