Mary Ann Elliott, 67, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following an illness of several months. She was born Jan. 29, 1943, in Sacramento, Calif., to Edmund Shackleford and Geneva Lois Joplin Shackleford. She married Ewing Lee Elliott on Nov. 13, 1984, in Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death in February 2010.
Mary was born in Sacramento, Calif., but grew up in a variety of locales. She spent most of her adult life in Missouri and has resided in Nevada for the past seven months. She worked for many years as a nurse and also as a caregiver. She also worked for a time as a cook. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge and spent much of her time as a fundraiser for various charities. She was a big supporter of the Bar-H Boys Ranch in Nevada. She was an avid gardener and loved her family very much and that love was returned in kind. Mary was a member of the Lebanon Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Jones and his wife, Karen, Nevada, Mo., Ron Jones and his wife, Jennifer, Nevada; one daughter, Lois Ann Butler and her husband, Bob, Morley, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Lisa Elliott and Lori Findley, both of Independence, Mo.; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edward Shackleford, Lawton, Okla.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 21, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Scott Spurling officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at the funeral home and the family receives friends from 7-8 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 20, at the funeral home.
