Rose Marie Chastain, 60, Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born Dec. 8, 1950, in Montevallo, Mo., to Daniel Curtis Pennington and Mary Blackmon Pennington. She was married Nov. 28, 1968, in Mount Vernon, Mo., to Lloyd Pat Chastain and he survives of the home.

Mrs. Chastain was born and grew up in Vernon County, Mo. She lived in Lawrence County, Mo., for a time, but spent most of her adult life in Nevada. Rose was a homemaker and was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Nevada.

In addition to her husband, Lloyd, survivors include two sons, Christopher Chastain and Earl Chastain, both of Nevada; one brother, Dusty Pennington, Nevada; eight half-brothers, Dean Pennington, Arthur Pennington, Buck Pennington, Everett Pennington and Billy Pennington, all of the Kansas City area, Paul Gooden, Lamar, Mo., Homer Gooden, Montevallo, Mo., and Sam Gooden, Dederick, Mo.; six half-sisters, Dana Thompson and Connie Smith, both of the Kansas City area, Laura Cook and Becky Long, both of Montevallo, Mo., and Pam Meister and Ruth Woods, both of Nevada; and her stepmother, Louise Pennington, Kansas City, Mo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Dedrick; her stepfather, Austin Gooden; and one half-brother, Larry Gooden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Jerry Pyle officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, between 7 and 8 p.m.
