Roy Michael Amos, 56, Nevada, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at his home in Kansas City, Kan., following a lengthy illness. He was born July 15, 1954, in Kansas City, Kan., to Wilbur Arnold Amos and Arlena Marie Dillon Amos. He married Brenda A. Aguilar on Oct. 27, 1987, in Kansas City, Kan., and she preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 2008.
Roy was raised in Kansas City, Kan. He came to Nevada in 1992. He worked for a number of years for Vernon County Road and Bridge. Roy retired in 2000 from NOW Structure in Nevada due to illness. He has lived in Kansas City, Kan., for the past year.
Survivors include six children, David Boyles, Michelle Boyles, Kelly Caron and her husband, Jeffery, all of Kansas City, Kan., Jennifer Amos, Jeremy Aquilar and his wife, Lisa, and Amanda LaMae, all of Nevada; 15 grandchildren; his mother, Arlene Thompson, Kansas City, Kan.; two sisters; and four brothers. He was preceded in death by his father and his wife, Brenda, in 2008.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, March 4, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Brent Bland officiating. A committal service will be held following cremation at a later date at Newton Burial Park, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends from 2-3:00 p.m., Friday, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
