Joe E. Goddard, 80, of Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.
Joe was born May 3, 1930, in Richards, Mo., the son of Ernest and Ruby (Evans) Goddard. He retired from Marine Electric and was Pentecostal by faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Ernest, Belva, Francis, Donal, William, Ernest "Chub" Goddard and Hazel Evans.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of the home; sons, Thomas M. Goddard and Stephen L. Goddard of Fort Scott, Kan.; stepchildren, Debbie (Ron) Jones, Tammy Jones, Mark Buell and Mark (Mignon) Ephland; sisters, Ada M. Burnett, Dorothy I. Anderson and Martha J. Cook; grandchildren, Jessica, Jordan and Alissa; stepgrandchildren, Melissa (Russ) Taylor, Jennifer (Kyle) Collier, Alaina (Marc) Dunham and John (Jill Cowen) Cobb; great-grandson, R.J. Shutz; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jakob, Emma, Luke, Ella, Ava, Jackson and Henry.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, March 21, at Meyers Funeral Chapel, Blue Springs. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Freeman Cemetery in Freeman, Mo. The family suggests memorial contributions in memory of Joe to be made to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kansas City, MO.
