Kenneth Eric Sneed

Kenneth Eric Sneed, 45, of rural Sheldon, passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2011, at the Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar. Eric was born on Sept. 5, 1965, in Aurora, Mo., and reared in Vernon County. Eric attended Sheldon schools and graduated from the Sheldon High School in 1984.

He worked at the Nevada Manor Nursing Home in Nevada, the Nevada State Hospital, and later Thorco in Lamar until his retirement due to disability. Eric was always willing to help people and was proud that he had given more than 12 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross. Eric has lived on the family farm his whole life.

Eric is survived by his parents, Kenneth and Carol Sue Sneed, of Sheldon; one sister, Susan Sneed-Horace; two nephews, Dominic and Dontae Horace, of St. Charles, Mo.; three aunts, Eva Robb-Park, Nevada, Reba Piper, Sheldon, and Sally Bogart, Sheldon; two uncles, Clifford E. Sneed Sr., Sheldon, and Robert E. Sneed, Nevada; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his companion, Taleah Clark, on Dec. 7, 2010.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 22, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Clifford Sneed Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home, on Tuesday prior to the service.
