Virginia Louise Hart, 89, of Fort Scott, Kan., died Friday morning, March 25, 2011, at the Mercy Health Center. She was born Nov. 10, 1921 in Fort Scott, Kan., the daughter of Roy R. and Lyda L. (Cass) Pryor. She married Clifford William "Cotton" Hart on May 25, 1940, in Fort Scott. He preceded her in death June 11, 1997.

Virginia was a very active member of the First Church of God, having served as Sunday school teacher, primary Sunday school superintendant, and Bible school coordinator for many years. She was also a member of the Call on Me Club, Mercy Auxiliary, and the Bourbon County Genealogical Society.

Survivors include her sons, Gerald Hart and Nancy of Fort Scott, John R. Hart and Linda of Rogersville, Mo., and James A. Hart and Kim of Willard, Mo.; a sister, Vineta Rogers of Harrison, Ark.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

The Rev. Philip Wilson will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 30, at the First Church of God with burial following at the U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 29, from 7-8 p.m., at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of God and left in the care of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home, 15 W. Wall St., P.O. Box 309, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
